Well, I have discovered that Monarch Pass was nothing.  Today we drove the 23 miles of Rim Rock Drive at Colorado National Monument.  It took us several hours because there were so many overlooks to stop at and photograph the amazing vistas.  Sheer 2,000 ft drop-offs with no guardrails.  Terrifying, but the views were so magnificent we had to stop at nearly every one.  Breathtaking beauty. The strange, haunting rock formations and the story of their creation are absolutely amazing. Even though I have found that I'm afraid of heights, I could not look away from the beauty and grandeur of this area.  There are also many hiking trails that I would have loved to explore, but we had the dog with us and he wasn't allowed on the trails.  Next time we will board him for the day.  This place is like a hidden jewel in Western Colorado.  Not famous like Grand Canyon or Royal Gorge or Arches.  But it should be.  I can't believe that we have never heard of this place.  Don't pass it up if you are ever in this area!

I didn't want to cook this evening so we went in town and found Pablo's Pizza.  Some of the best we have ever eaten!
